About Us

A Family-Style Village, Not an Institution

Why we exist, what we believe, and how a young mother moves from crisis to independence.

Mission

Our Mission

To create a sanctuary that provides young mothers with the tools they need to move from adversity to empowerment — breaking cycles of poverty and building a brighter, self-sustaining future for themselves and their children.

Vision

Our Vision

A pioneering, sustainable village model that empowers young mothers while improving child welfare, through a supportive community centered on education, independence, and health — and that becomes a model other communities in Ghana and the region can adapt.

Core Values

  • Dignity first. Every resident is treated as the author of her own future.
  • Family, not facility. Small tiny homes and a shared commons — never a dormitory-style institution.
  • Self-sufficiency over dependency. Every service is designed around a visible exit.
  • Safety and child protection. Rigorous staff vetting and a written child-protection policy.
  • Rooted partnership. Built with, not for, the local community and Ghana's Department of Social Welfare.
The Problem

A Widening Gap for Ghana's Youngest Mothers

15%
of Ghanaian girls aged 15–19 have ever been pregnant. Ghana Statistical Service, 2023
522
teenage-pregnancy cases registered in Bongo District alone in 2025. UNICEF Ghana

What this means for a 13–18 year old mother

  • Interrupted schooling with no clear path back to the classroom
  • Family rejection or overcrowded, unstable housing
  • Little or no access to childcare, blocking any return to education or work
  • Heightened exposure to exploitation and unsafe living situations

A New Way Village exists to close this specific gap — with safe housing, education, and support built for the youngest, most housing-insecure mothers.
